Molodechno Deaf Society

The charity trustees visit the Molodechno Deaf Society. The Society supports the deaf community
and aims to help them lead fulfilling lives. There are many additional deaf people in Belarus as a
result of the radiation from Chernobyl. The youngsters have appealed for English penfriends,
from our deaf community if possible. The hospital is able to provide one hearing aid for one ear
for each child, every 4 years. Most deaf people need 2 hearing aids. Batteries are also expensive
and last about 2 weeks. Generous UK donors have enabled us to provide additional batteries
and aids. As isolation is a problem for deaf people we funded a summer outing for the whole
Deaf Society to enjoy.
